How to Read the Army Cutoff Scores Report
Sometimes, reading the promotion qualification scores can be extremely confusing. To help you understand, I have outlined the most important information below. Read after the picture for a description of each area. The first step to finding your cutoff score is to locate your MOS in the first column. I am using 11B in this example. All information about the 11B promotion points is outlined in the thick black line. The red box outlines the points relevant to those recommended to SGT. The blue box outlines the points relevant to those recommended to SSG. PZ stands for primary zone and SZ stands for secondary zone. The reason there is a difference between the two is that SZ is for exceptional performers. Below is the time in service and time in grade requirements for SGT and SSG. Requirements for promotion to SGT:
- Time in service: 36 months (PZ); 18 months (SZ)
- Time in grade: 8 months (PZ); 4 months (SZ)
- Time in service: 84 months (PZ); 48 months (SZ)
- Time in grade: 10 months (PZ); 5 months (SZ)
